On: セン (sen) | Kun: ち (chi)
Mnemonic
千 looks like a measuring stick with a diagonal slash — imagine tallying one thousand marks by cutting a bold line across. Watch out: 千 (sen — thousand) and 先 (sen — previous/ahead) share the same on-yomi セン. Remember them apart: 千 is just three strokes, while 先 has legs walking forward. Kun: ち (chi) survives in place names like 千代 (Chiyo).

Mnemonic
水 is a pure pictograph — a central stream with two droplets splashing out on each side, exactly like water flowing between banks. On: スイ (sui) — think of "sweeping" water. Kun: みず (mizu), the everyday word for water. As a radical (氵, three dots on the left), 水 appears in hundreds of kanji related to liquids.

Mnemonic
男 = 田 (rice field) + 力 (strength) — a man is one who applies strength in the rice field. The field sits on top, power below. On: ダン (dan) — as in 男性 (dansei, "male"). Note the pair: 女 (woman) + 男 (man) combine to make 男女 (danjo, "men and women"), which you learned last batch.

Think of it as a plant pushing up through the earth. On: ド (do) in 土曜 (doyou, "Saturday") and 国土 (kokudo, "national territory"). The softer reading ト (to) appears in 土地 (tochi, "land").
